Ikimonogakari to sing NHK’s London Olympic theme song

It’s been reported that Ikimonogakari will be in charge of the theme song for “NHK London Olympics Broadcast“!
The members each gave a comment on being chosen to sing the theme song. Mizuno Yoshiki (G) said, “I want to deliver a song that would be a wind to support the strong feelings of the athletes.”
Meanwhile, Yoshioka Kiyoe (Vo) expressed, “We want to do our best to make the music and sing it from our hearts to draw closer to the athletes.” Yamashita Hotaka (G) also enthusiastically stated, “As a Japanese who supports the Japanese team, I want to make efforts to make a song that will not bring shame.”
Details regarding the song will be revealed sometime in June. Thus far, Hamada Mari, Terada Keiko, Oguro Maki, ZARD, Yuzu, and Mr. Children have provided the theme songs for NHK’s Summer Olympics broadcast. For the Winter Olympics broadcast, Takahashi Mariko, F-BLOOD, MISIA, Hirahara Ayaka, and L’Arc~en~Ciel’s songs have been used by NHK.
